Join us on October 17th for a special in-person workshop to celebrate the upcoming release of Umbraco 17 – the next Long-Term Supported (LTS) version of Umbraco CMS.

With the beta hopefully landing just a day before, you will be amongst the first to get hands-on with the new beta version, learning about what’s changing and what’s next for Umbraco.

(don't worry, we'll run on V16 if the beta isn't quite stable or ready!)

This is a hands-on, practical workshop – you won’t just be watching demos! You’ll be working directly with code and will leave with real-world working examples running on your own machine, ready to take back to your team or project.

Coffee / tea and lunch will be provided to keep you fuelled throughout the day. There will also be plenty of opportunities to network with fellow attendees before and after the event.

Structure

The day is structured into three focused chapters, each led by Umbraco community experts:

1. Backoffice: Customisation with Vite & TypeScript

Learn how to extend and tailor the new backoffice using modern frontend tools. We’ll dive into creating custom property editors and dashboards, integrating them seamlessly with Vite and TypeScript to improve performance, maintainability, and developer experience.

2. Backend: Performance & Efficiency

Explore the latest .NET language features, as well as new APIs in Umbraco itself, to help you write cleaner, more efficient, and future-proof code. You'll also get hands-on with Umbraco’s new Hybrid Cache, designed to improve performance in distributed environments.

3. Upgrading from v13 to v17

Get practical guidance on upgrading from Umbraco 13 (the current LTS) to 17. We’ll walk through the key changes introduced across versions v14 / v15 / v16 and share strategies and tooling to help you plan and execute a smooth transition.

Requirements

You will need:

A laptop (Windows or MacOS) & charger
An IDE like Visual Studio, VS Code, or Jetbrains Rider
The latest .NET 10 preview installed
The latest NodeJS LTS installed

Will the workshop be hosted elsewhere?

We are exploring the options of hosting the workshop in other locations around the UK and internationally, depending on interest, but there are no plans at this time.

Can I join remotely?

There are no plans to offer the workshop remotely for now, but never say never!

What is the cancellation policy?

You can cancel your ticket up to 21 days before the workshop for a full refund.

We do expect the workshop to sell out, as spots are limited. You are welcome to transfer your ticket to another person.

Will you cater for dietary requirements?

Of course. We aim to cater for as many dietary requirements as possible.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Absolutely! The building has wheelchair ramps / access, and an accessible bathroom is available.
